I was in the ATS (Air Training Service) and at the time of this story we were based in Doncaster. War time entertainment was very important for morale and so we were putting on a talent show. All the different forces were there and it was amazing how much talent there was! I was in the 6ATS Lovelies. We were dressed as Hawaiian ladies and we'd made our outfits ourselves, complete with grass skirts and coconut bikinis! We'd been sat down for part of the performance (which was going down a storm!) and when we got up our bottoms where all black! As we got up and unknowingly danced on, the audience found our blackened bottoms highly entertaining!
