I remember reading a letter from my aunt. About an
old lady who lived with her daughter near London Road Railway station
Because they were so scared they went and stayed with friends in Stoneygate, Because of the high risk of air-raids and bombs falling down . Unless you actually lived through it, you just did not realise how awful it must have been.
My husband lived at Sileby and his Mum used to be on Fire Watch Duty.
One thing I remember about the war in particular, was being very frightened to hear the sirens. I also remember My Mother pointing out the fires of Coventry. Ration books, bananas tasted awful, very disappointing. In Parkland Drive, Oadby there used to be an air-raid shelter. Probably several
