This story was submitted to the People's War website by Louise Angell of the CSV Action Desk at 大象传媒 Radio Derby on behalf of Patricia Doxey. The author fully understands the sites terms and conditions.

When I was at school, Matlock Bath Primary, we used to have air raid practise. They'd ring the alarms and we had to evacuate. there would be workmans lamps lit to mark where things were supposed to have fallen. I'd be bandaged up and pretend to be injured so everyone else could practise first aid. One day I had to have a pretend broken leg and arm. When I got home we wrapped my younger sister up in the bandages and told mum she'd fallen off the toilet wall. mum was really angry with us!
