We had crashed in the desert in Iraq and had no idea where we were. The next day a group of armed Arabs on horseback rode up and looked at us for a while. We took shelter in the plane not knowing what to expect. As suddenly as they had come they rode off not harming us but not offering help either. The following morning we met a Bedouin man and boy who immediately said they would fetch help which they brought back three days later. Only after did we learn that they were paid 50 denia for saving us. Somewhat unrealistic allies.
