My Grandad was a baby at the beginning of the Second World War. His mum put him to bed in his pram under the stairs in the house they lived in in Regent Street, Leamington Spa. That night a stray bomber airplane dropped its bombs down the Parade. It blew up the house next door and blew his mum across the room. One of the bombs fell on the shops opposite the Queen Victoria statue on the Parade and moved it one inch off its plinth.
