Well my nan was telling me she was in the blitz and she could here the doodle bugs coming down over london.
She seemed very shocked and said to me "i looked up and could see a bomber the plane was so low i could see the outline of the mans face" she said that she had nightmares after this night.

I think that possibly two or more quite separate incidents have become conflated here.

There were no German bombers over London when it was being bombarded by V1s that I am aware of. To have sent bombers would have endangered the aircraft, particularly if flying so low in daylight as to see the outline of a man's face. Spotter planes were not required as the V1 wasn't very accurate.
