When I was six we lived in Woodbridge Road, Ipswich. My brother was standing on our dustbin when a bomber flew over very low going in a south westerly direction. Later we were told that it had come down at Wherstead.
We didn't use our air raid shelter in the garden because it got waterlogged, so we used a table indoors as a shelter, or we just took a chance and stayed in bed.
