"How come you were evacuated to London?" Many people have asked. Well, after Holland was overwhelmed by the Germans the Government was worried by the thought of invasion. Felixstowe was cleared of all families, leaving only firemen, soldiers, etc. I was only a baby in arms but we (my Mum and I) went to Sundury in Middlesex to my Aunty.
There we stayed until one day, so the story goes, my Aunty awoke to find cabbages and soil covering her windows.
The blast from a bomb up uprooted all her plants and they were splashed across the back of the house. At that point it was decided that the bombing had becaome too much. So I and my Mum returned back to Felixstowe, taking with us my two boy cousins, who returned with me and stayed for several years, even going to school with me later.
