My Dad, Jack Bullock, drove a bren gun carrier. He was with the DLI 11th Battalion which trained at Thetford. They left Thetford on the 8 June 1944 and landed at Gold Beach, British 50th (Northumbrian) Division, D-Day + 6. They reached Berlin via Caen where they sufferd heavy casualties and joined the 2nd Regiment Devonshires. They guarded the bridge at Nijmegen looking for frogmen while the engineers built a bridge along side it.
