I went to a Catholic school in Beckon Hill, I was 12 years old. One morning we were told that there was a concert on at Mission Hall, Adalaide Street. When I arrived there the night of the concert I found the American's were there. I enjoyed singing and I was called up to sing with an American, he was a proper Texan called Ashley, we sang Red River Valley. When I went back to school on Monday we were all told that Ashley had been killed on Armagh Beach, Ireland. I was devasted and it has stayed with me ever since.
