Mike Woods Story

Loosing One鈥檚 Battle

I was born in 1931. My Mother took me in for the VE day celebrations in the Mall (We want the King) in Lyons Corner House the lot. I was given a bottle of pop and of course drank it. The crowds were exactly as they were shown on film and I tried to get rid of the bottle. Each time I was given it back by a helpful person. We ended on the embankment and I put the bottle on the balustrade gently edging it off. It went and hit a police barge. On VE day we all went over to the salvage hut and burnt it down.
