I lived in Evington in Leicester.
My friend lived opposite, Dorothy, and we’d get together.
We had to stop in — you couldn’t go out.
If you went to the pictures you didn’t know if you were going to get back.
We had a good market back then.
My dad used to drive a tram then so he was exempt from going away.
