This is the story of my father, who is now 80 years old. He joined the navy as a very young man, to take his part in the war. He did his training in Arbroath, Scotland, and has many funny stories to tell of his training.
He was then sent as an active seaman to work on aircraft carriers and submarines.
His ship was torpedoed twice, and he survived to tell the tale. He also saw other atrocities, like the gobbling up of his friend by pirhana fish, people coming out of the concentration camps, and foot rot in the jungle.
My Dad is a very proud and brave man, and we are all proud of him for his bit in the war.
When he was demobbed, he met my mother (who is now dead). She had just been demobbed from the land army.
I think my father (like many others) has a story worth telling, and worth hearing. If you would like to contact him, he now lives in Walsall in the West Midlands. He owns a farm called Wrens Nest Farm, in Skip Lane. His telephone number is: 01922 648414
He has a very alert mind, and is an interesting man, so do please contact him and hear his story before he dies.
