I was born in 1943 at 189 Bosty Lane, Aldridge. When the bombs were dropping, that makes me a war baby.
It was in 1944 (I think) I would have been about 2.
One day, there was a loud thud ourside (very load), unpon investigating my mother found a large crater halfway down the back garden with a bomb in the bottom.
A German bomber plane must have dropped it by mistake as he was after "Helliwells Airport pane factory".
Luckly it did not explode or it would have taken the whole of Bosty Lane with it.
Later on my father arrived for some papers for his work, as he then worked for the "Royal Liver Insurance", they would not let him down Bosty Lane as it was cordoned off with the bomb squad, but they did allow him to go down the house with a soldier, before they made the bomb safe.
We then made a pond, as the hole was already dug. (A VERY SCARY TIME)
