This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by a volunteer on behalf of Pilot Officer John A. Martin DFC (retired) Larne, N. Ireland and been added to the site with his permission. Mr Martin understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.
When we were out carrying out an air test on our aircraft which was based at Chedburgh, flying above the River Cams. Our pilot used to fly so low that he was able to tip over the yachts. He would call to a member of the crew who was keeping watch out the rear, 鈥淗ave I got it?鈥 The crew member invariably replied, 鈥淵es it鈥檚 gone鈥. You can imagine how low he must have been flying, to direct the slipstream from the props to overturn the yachts.
