We were a big family, my mother used to get us kids ready, just after 6pm she鈥檇 take us to Shipstones and we鈥檇 stay there until the all clear. I remember the tunnels, long tunnels with bunk beds all the way down. All the families that lived around Basford used to go down there. Down there you couldn鈥檛 hear the bombs dropping but when you came up from there you could.
When we all got used to things our cellar got reinforced and we鈥檇 go down there. One nigh it was terrifying when bombs dropped on the Moot Hall etc in Nottingham, all us kids were crying when we were in the cellar
