鈥淭his story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by a volunteer from Adult and Community Learning, Woodstock, on behalf June and has been added to the site with his permission. June fully understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.鈥

I was 4 years old when the war started. I remember the sirens and being frightened and me and my mum having to hide under the table when they started. Later on they fitted the cellar out with corrugated iron and we hid in there.

Dad came home after the war in 1946. I remember my sister Janet screaming when he came into the house. She was only born at the beginning of the war and did not know him.
