A 26 years old

A Yes, I had two evacuees, one boy and one girl, they were brother and sister. They stayed for a very long time and they went to school here

Q Do you have any happy memories?
A Well, my first 2 children were born after the war. None of my immediate family were killed. My husband wasn鈥檛 posted abroad

Q Do you have any sad memories?
A My cousin, William, died. He was a navigator of the planes

Q Do you remember any of the air raids?
A I can鈥檛 really remember the air raids, but I do remember having an iron table, which was really tough, which we used to have to sit under

Q What do you remember about the end of the war?
A I was at my mother鈥檚 house when it was declared over the radio. We had street parties

Q Any other memories?
A I remember there were German prisoners of war mending the road, outside my house
