I was born at West Monkton and I was six years old when war broke out and my next Christmas present was a second hand doll, with odd legs! She was much loved and cherished for many years.
When my two sons were boarding at Taunton School my husband was made redundant and my doll 鈥淏iddy鈥 was sold at Sothebys for 拢60 to help with their school fees.
