From Allied intelligence observations upon the Germans just before they announced hostile intentions of WW2, to the recent terrorist actions and intelligence behaviour in 2005.

Ironically enough, gas masks were issued to everyone for World War Two, but none issued in 2005. Maybe they think it is futile considering all the variations of gas and bio-weapons they have to deal with now. Or hopefully, they have something up their sleeves????

Lets us explore now what happened with Intelligence units and their recommendations just before the WW2 scenario. The British were based well inside Germany, but almost as if they had wind of something brewing, they began to pull back to safer areas, in France and other side of Rhine. They probably did not know what to expect, but began to anticipate. I believe a British Officer Known in the history files as ‘Strong’ became Intel. Commander. Am not certain at this stage, have to check again.

When most of the civilised world came together to stop Sadam Hussein of Iraq, invasion of Kuwait, The first Gulf War. Many things happened after this and during this time period.
First of all we had great upheavals in Europe, Muslim and other groups began to ethnic cleanse each other, and many were used against each other, sometimes similar to the 5th column activities of German invasion forces in the first part of the WW2.

Kosovo and other areas that can be accessed through history archives will tell a more detailed story of the casualties that happened.

After this time period their were various war scenes and terrorist activities globally.
Then a similar Intelligence pattern began to emerge. After civilian and anarchist attacks on intelligence Post’s, including Cyprus. Intelligence units, including American and British, began to pull back to more secure areas. The 5th columnist supporters began to motivate public opinion against this move, especially anti- American comments etc.
Many of us debated this outcome even in public on Radio Leicester Airways Talkback Shows at the time. We expressed concerns that this pattern was emerging and hoped that nothing would happen.
But later it did, the infamous November 11 terrorist attack, female executions in Afghanistan and many other recorded incidents and fears and rhetoric.
These and many other incidents and Intelligence Assessments eventually led to the defensive counter ‘War Against Terrorism’. As usual the attackers managed to manipulate Nation against Nation, despite the attempts at détente and anti-nuclear proliferation. Did the terrorist make the same mistake as the Japanese in their Pearl Harbour Attack; Did they wake the Sleeping Giant?

So you see similar patterns emerging and emerged. Ironically, the recent Terrorist London Attacks came at the time when Britain was acknowledging the important and stolid role of the normal average person during WW2 and remembering the 60 year anniversary of peace. VJ Day and VE Day were recently celebrated.
You’d think we would know how to combat 5th columnist activity by now, wouldn’t you? Did they get wind of something, but not sure of what, before they pulled back?
