When I was a small lad and the war was on, we used to go into the shelter at the bottom of the garden.
One night a bomb hit the church opposite our house, and blew all the windows out and the slates from off the roof. The front door was blown to the back of the house.
Then another night we were down in the shelter and my dad came and said 鈥淟ook at this鈥. There was a Land-Mine going over on a parachute and my dad kept saying 鈥 Keep on going鈥. In case it came down on us.
Also we lived near a Railroad track, on the track was a big Anti-Aircraft Gun that went up and down the track, and if any enemy planes came, it used to fire at them and God! What a noise, we used to call it 鈥楤ig Berther鈥.
