After narrowly missing being killed by a buzz bomb during army training, my mate Jim and I went home on leave to Sevenoaks Weald and another buzz bomb fell on the big house, Beechmont House, where the Army were staying. It was 1944 and it killed three ATS girls and an officer. That house had the best row of monkey puzzles in England and beautiful sycamores in the back garden, and they were all cut down for the Nissan huts.
