The average life expectancy of a rear gunner during World War 2 was 6 months. My father was just 20 when his aeroplane was shot down into the sea and he lived to tell the tale. He started to write about his experiences. Sadly, his book will never be finished because Tom died at age 80 in December 2000 but the chapters he wrote are fascinating. Includes photos, sketches and letters that he wrote. It's too large to publish here and contains many images. So I'll simply give the web page address where you can download a copy.
