This story was submitted to the People's War site by a pupil at Esher High School on behalf of our veteran and has been added to the site with her permission. She fully understands the site's terms and conditions.
She was playing with her friend in an open space when suddenly out of the corner of her eye she saw something brown. They ran over to it and tugged at it. A German uniform fell out. It was from one of the prisoners of war. They took it to the police expecting a reward but instead they were told off because they should'nt have been playing on open land.
