I was one of five children. All food was home made because of rationing. It was useful to know someone in the 鈥渂lack鈥 market. We were always short of sugar. I was sent next door to borrow a cup of sugar. I remember sweet rationing, there was never enough. We were always having sweets from next month鈥檚 issue.
