I served mainly in Thailand and Singapore. The war years were my formative years. I started as an evacuee and ended up serving in the military. The first bombing we used to hide under the sofa. When we got used to it we used to get out deck chairs on the porch. One on occasion the house opposite was incendiary bombed. We went over, dealt with it only to turn around to find OUR house on fire. We had the explosion incendiary bombed long before we were warned about them.
