My Dear Mam,
Seeing as today is Mothers day, this letter is for you only. I hope you are keeping fine and my bed already for when I come home. Do you know Mam, your the best little Mother in the World and my best girl you must write to me nearly every day and send plenty of papers. I really appreciate it all Dear, and when this Wars over, you and I are going to have some nice times out together just like Southport. I always remember that. My Dad maybe my Pal and 鈥︹︹︹ut you鈥檝e always been the one who got me out of all sorts of rows. I often think of the bad lad I used to be when I was at school and the way I worried you. I deserved more good hidings than I got. Ill try to be a better Son to you now Mam. Can you get many apples at home. I hope they are not short when I come home because I want a lot of pie. I have missed it very much. I told some of the people in S.Africa, no one could make apple Pie like my Mam. They knew I liked it so whenever they knew I was calling they made some. None of them made it near as good as you. It鈥檚 like our Eddy said. 鈥淵ou are a fine little Maker.鈥 He knows what he鈥檚 talking about. You sure are a good little Maker. The people here couldn鈥檛 make Rice Pudding to touch yours. Boy you certainly can cook Mam. Well I don鈥檛 think it will be long before I am home on leave now. The sooner it is the better. 鈥淗ave you got the remainder of my snaps yet.鈥 I hope you get them soon. they are a better lot than those you have already got. Well Mam my Dear. I鈥檓 afraid I must leave you now. I just had to write you today. In Church this morning they had a special prayer for all our Mothers and so I鈥檝e been thinking of you all the time, I often sit down and think of my little Mam. She鈥檚 the best in the world. Give my Love to Dad and Edd. Good Night Mam and God Bless You. I鈥檓 always thinking of you and hope to see you soon. xxxxxxx
