This story has been written by Claire Parker of Finedon Mulso C of E Junior School, on behalf of Joan Parker with her permission. Joan fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

I asked my grandma where she lived in World War 2 and she said that she lived in Mears Ashby and it wasn鈥檛 bombed. She was 9 years old.
After that I asked her did she fight in the war. My grandma said no she wasn鈥檛 old enough. I asked my grandma if she did see a bomb and she told me that she saw a bomb and it looked like a torpedo. Next I asked my grandma did any one you know die. My grandma said 鈥測es鈥, but she didn`t want to tell me. After that I asked her how she coped in the war. She replied 鈥渕ade do and mend鈥 was our motto. When I asked her how did she feel at the time, she said that she grew up with it and it was a normal way of life for her. She pumped water out of the well and food was brought on ration from the shops.

I also her if there was any damage to anyone`s property including hers. She told me not really. She also said that none of the food shops in Mears Ashby were bombed, but 鈥淎nn`s Pantry鈥 in Wellingborough was bombed.
