I joined the WAAF in 1942.
In 1943 I was posted to RAF Little Snoring, Norfolk...the newest station in Bomber Command.

I was the 2nd WAAF to arrive on the station and was involved in the booking in of personnel.

A Squadron of Lancasters from here were involved in the heavy bombing of Germany and a group of us used to help prepare refreshments for the returning crews.

The station was very isolated and our living quarters lacked washing facilities so we had a long walk first thing every morning to the nearest washrooms then a mile long cycle for breakfast...we used to cycle eveywhere in those days.

In 1945 we were awarded a Trophy for the best kept WAAF site in Bomber Command and were also runners up in the WAAF netball Championship.

Although life in those days was quite tough, the Station was a happy and freindly station which helped to keep our morale up.
