The attached picture shows the 14" gun armed King George V leaving Colombo Harbour in mid 1945. Together with HMS Rodney the KGV was responsible for pounding the Battleship Bismarck to a blazing ruin during the battle of the Denmark Strait in 1941.

My father was aboard the escort carrier HMS Rajah which can be seen in the background. It's one of those strange twists of history that while the proud and awesome King George V went to the breakers yard in January 1958, the pugnacious little escort carrier Rajah soldiered on in various guises until she was finally scrapped in 1975!
