Dark night
And torches shine
Pencil slim
Into the night
Criss-crossing
Each other
Like sword fencers
Fighting in the
Night sky
Search-lights
Searching for the planes
Droning heavy heavy
With their weight
Their leaden weight
Of bombs
About to fall
And kill -
Excitement
Only at the
Thought
Of
Collecting shrapnel
The magic calibrated
Find
Of a delayed incendiary
Already spent
And jagged
The magic
Would protect us
And living
On the jagged edge
Was strangely
Fun
