I slept at the top of the house and one night during an air raid I was listening to bits and pieces falling down onto the roof. My mother asked me to come downstairs. I came halfway and was sitting on the edge of the staircase when a bomb dropped and the windows came in on one side and she jumped out of bed on the other side. My father yelled 鈥淐ome downstairs!鈥, we both dashed downstairs. We had an old fashioned swing bell which was ringing and my mother said 鈥渟omebody wants to come in鈥. 鈥淐ome in鈥 said my father as he opened the front door just as a second bomb dropped and he was blown right along the hall, much to our surprise and laughter.
