This story was submitted to the People's War site by Edward Fawcett for Three Counties Action on behalf of Veronica Taylor and has been added to the site with her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions. We lived in Felixstowe Rd in Ipswich and we were bombed. My brother wouldn't get out of bed for anyone,Hitler or anyone and when the bomb hit,his bedroom ceiling fell in.I think my father went in and got him.We didn't have a window left in the house. The books are the things I remember. We were asked to take in any books the family didn't want for pulping and badges were awarded for the number of books you took in, a better badge for the more books you took in.I got the top badge in my class because I took the most books,my father had alot of books. The badges were of different colours
