Due to the way that the Enigma Machine was brought over to this country in bits by the secret army personnel and the French Resistance. Britain was able to decrypt the German 4 Cylinder Enigma Machines code (not all of them). We were able to pass on the decoded messages from the Ministry of Defence offices to the Secret Service. This was done by giving the decoded messages to secretaries to take from one building to the office of the Secret Services (off Marble Arch). Unfortunately, the secretaries were prone to sit in Lyons Corner Houses between offices. It was a possibility that on occasion the decoded messages were accidentally left in the tea houses!!! My mum was one of the secretaries; she fell in love with a fighter pilot towards the end of the war. He told her to get the messages to the offices before she sat down and had a cup of tea!!! My mum was promoted and ended up working at Bletchley Park
