Ada was certainly involved in D-Day - giving birth to Rita as the news came over at 9 a.m. of the landings! She, and husband Alf, had worked on the Spitfire production lines in Birmingham throughout the war.
Rita married Terry and they moved to Bognor Regis in 1980 - Ada and Alf retired to the Isle of Wight in 1983, where Alf died in 1989. Ada is now 90 years old, and looks after herself in a flat in Fair Oak, Rita and Terry have lived in Winchester since 1987, and their children live in Farnham (Nick) and Marchwood (Clare).
Nick and Julia produced a daughter on 10th February, Ada's first great-grandchild, Lauren; Clare and Mark are expecting a baby very shortly. You guessed it - on 6th June 2004, Rita's 60th birthday!
Celebrations are planned, hopefully on the south coast overlooking Christchurch Bay, but we'll have to react to events, just as they did 60 years ago. Thanks to all of them for the life we enjoy today.
