After he was a Yeoman he started working in the tanks he had to carry A Spare Tire, Wireless, Battery for Wireless, Guns and Amunition, Water for Radiator and then had little room for food and water for himself. In the tank there was 5 people 2 in the front and 3 in the back. In some of the attacks made they lost many tanks, some were stolen and some were blown up in their faces. Mr Welsh recalls that there were parts of the war he enjoyed. In one of the night attacks in the dessert they attacked to find the Germans waiting for them this caused them to lose 45 out of 49 tanks. On D-day they landed on sword beach and set up many bunkers at 10:30 in the morning. They had to back up the 185 bregade.
Also over the trucks they put camoflage nets which was hard beacause it caught off many things.
