1939 Start of WW2

I can remember as a child my father telling recounting his time in the desert commanding a troop of Arab soldiers.

Working under/with his commanding Officer ‘Dickie Bird’ the camp chef was on leave, the replacement chef also wanting to maintain the good relations with the nomad tribes that had been built up by his predecessor handed out the camp drink of tea leaves, which took place quite regularly. Father then had the job of averting a riot and calming down some very angry nomads who thought they were being poisoned.

What transpired the old chef had given then USED tea leaves and the replacement chef was giving them NEW UNUSED tea leaves.
