We were stationed in Normandy with No274 Spitfire Squadron. Free French pilot Paul Rumi expressed a desire to do something special to mark Bastille Day, the French National Day, on 14th July.
We devised a plan to fly low over Paris and drop a Tricolour french flag on the Arc de Triomphe. We got the "okay" from superior authority and proceeded with our plan
