There was more exercising in the Suffolk Region. I was in the Royal Signals and we were laying telephone lines in the hedge backs. Proceeding along this country road we rounded a bend and 鈥渓o and behold鈥 there was a line of fully armed L.D.Vs shouting 鈥淗alt you are our prisoners.鈥
We had no choice but to obey the local home guard who said we shall take you to our H.Q. I asked the leader of the home guard where the H.Q. was as we had not eaten for several hours.
鈥淭ypical of the army, always dry and hungry鈥
鈥淭he H.Q. is in the Pig and Whistle鈥
Talk about 鈥淢anahh from Heaven鈥
Do I detect shades of 鈥淒ads Army?鈥
