In 1939-40 I was nine and everyone was talking about incendiary bombs. We children thought they were just like silver things coming from the sky. My Dad was in the Royal Observer Corps, and I remember really missing bananas and I used to queue in Woolworths for digestive biscuits and swop them with my Grandad for sweet coupons.
And I remember the VE day street party was great, but we always seemed to have lots of jelly!
