I was working in munitions in London. It was a terrible time with frequent air raids. When we went to work it was not uncommon to find a workmate was missing, killed in the previous nights raids.

In the evenings I took pillows and blankets down the tube stations to try and sleep, but it was difficult being so hot and crowded.

Life was very uncertain. My Mum's house was bombed and my Brother lost at sea. It made you value life and live it every day, but I'm telling you no more than that!
