I remember my parents talking about Hempstead Hall where my mother grew up. She told me a story about the Italian PoW鈥檚 who worked on the farm. They used to take the farm door off its hinges and prop it up with a stick and a stone. When birds got under the door they鈥檇 trap them to eat by pulling the stick away with string.
