I arrived home from school to find my brother (a telegraph boy) waiting for me. He was lucky enough to have a pass into the sealed-off area around Torbay.
We cycled down to a placed called "Daddy Hole Plain" where one has a five mile view across the bay to Brixham. From our elevated position it looked as if you could walk over the invasion craft, the whole five miles. The sight was fantastic to our young eyes.
The next day I couldn't get home quickly enough. I grabbed my bicycle and headed for the viewpoint only to find the bay completely emptied.
