Nancy Marland remembers -

At work in Leyland, Preston,on hearing the sirens, running out of work to the air raid shelter, huddling together, frightened to death, listening to bombs dropping -
we sang songs - Long Way to Tippereray - Roll out the Barrel etc. When the all clear siren went at the end of the raid, we all had to go back to work. We did not feel like working then, but was relieved to be out of the shelter.
