We went into the camp, unware that the SS would be in there, we found out during the evening that there was a lot of shooting at the bottom end of Belsen Camp. We were then ordered to go down and quell the shooting. The SS were unware that they were in a truce whereby they would be returned to their own lines after we had taken over.
Subsequently we took them prisoners and then having taken them prisoners we got them organised to bury the dead.
The SS women were placed in a hut along with the "Beastess" has they called her Irma Grese, they were eventually executed at Nuremburg.
