My Diary starts in January 1945 a few months before the end of the war.

Thursday Jan 18th
Went to school.All the family went to the pictures in the night but I stayed home and did my homework
It snowed.

Fri Jan 19th
The snow was so deep that all the buses stopped. Daddy had to walk to Mardy to work and my friends from Mardy couldn't come to school.

Sat Jan 20th
It snowed again but managed to go to the cinema to see Stewert Granger and Phyllis Calvert in Fanny by Gaslight.

Thurs Jan 25th
When I got up the snow was terribly deep it had snowed all night. I got outside the front door and I was stuck in the snow. Somebody had dug a sort of trench in the middle of the road so I managed to get to school but there was hardly anyone there. No buses were running at all.Nobody could get into Ferndale and nobody could get out.

Mon Jan 29th
It had snowed so much that school was closed until Thursday.

Mon Feb 5th
Had a House meeting today.I have been asked to be in the gym. team for our House which is Caradog.

Thurs March 1st.St David's Day.
We had our Gym Display today; it went off all right

Tues March 2nd
Our Eisteddfod was today. Caradog my House
came 1st in nearly everything-gym,choir,
essay sonnet cy-dadrof. John evev came 2nd in Art.

Mon May 7th
Went down the road and heard a rumour that the war was over. Came home and found out it was true-the war in Europe is definitely over.

Tues May 8th
This is V.E.DAY the end of the War in Europe. Everybody has got trimmings and flags out and then we had two bonfires and dancing in the street.

Wed May 9th
Today we had a Carvival and a tea party in the street. In the night we had a party in Perky's house. Mike kissed me a lot I like him very much,almost as much as John.

Fri June 8th
My sister Pat's 9th birthday today so helped organise somme party games. Then went for a walk up the park with John.

Mon June 11th
Went to the pictures and John was waiting for me on the corner of the street. So I went for a walk with him.

Wed. June 13th
Went on the boats up the park in the evening with John.

Sat August11
Well I'm on my way to London for a visit with our evacuee Sheila Keneddy who lived with us for a few years. Her two sisters Pat and Sylvia met us in Paddington Station
and took us on another train to Burnt Mill.

Sun August 12th
Got up and Sheila took me out for a walk. Burnt Mill is a very small village with fields all around. They seem quite a nice family.They have a very big garden with pear and apple trees.

Mon August 13th
Went into London today and saw many places
I've only heard about- St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey.

Fri August 17th
Went to London again today and we all had our Polifotos taken about 50 of them,- this is one of them.
