When you served in the royal Navythe saolors were given a daily tot of rum, but as my great grandad did not drink he would usully save his up and give it to the crofters or exchange it for cigarettes with his mates who wanted an extra drink. There was a time though when he saved some in a small bottle, he added some raisins to it help preserve it then corked the bottle and covered the top with tar to seal it and he brought it home, but he never drank it and we still have it at home.
