Theatre of Ops served in UK and Africa
(Volunteer) Davenport Rating. Calekery Fleet Mail, served ‘Davenport, Dartmouth-Davenport, Mail office until overseas draft sailed for Greenock in a fast convoy m/r Stratheden took 2 weeks to get to fortside having spent most of the time dodging U Boats lost back trooper’ so much for a fast convoy of only three troopers (we were no.1).
From Portside to the Bitter lakes travsite camp awaiting postman (tell about W.O. whom you work for while waiting.) Post to Cairo. Spent the next 3 years there in the R.N. Fleet Mail Office (tell about places seeon on leaves and how you were able to save money to travel.
Move to Malta
Tell about the journey back to England.
