During the war I worked in an office in Meir Aerodrome. I was put in the ARP by my boss.
I was stationed behind the Smithfield Hotel in Blythe Bridge. We always had a lot of fun in the ARP. There were two girls and LOADS of men!
Whenever we were on duty, we had to patrol around, help people with their gas masks and get babies into their cots. We were thoroughly trained so that we could train other folks.
We always said that ARP stood for "Arsing Round Pubs"!!!
