In 1939 Dorothy Robinson, ex war worker was 19 years of age when the war started. She was based in sqiures gate at the start then moved on to the hangar at stanley park.Dorothy can clearly remember the RAF arriving and training down the promanade, she can also clearly remember evacuated children coming to Blackpool even though she was not part of the evacuation operation and had no experience. she had good living conditions and can remember dancing with GI's, the GI's brought candy and ciggerettes aswell as silk stockings back from america. .She can remember carrying gas masks on her back. She can remember seeing liverpool on fire, dreadful experience every night. whilst they were in the black out.She can also remember flying in the very last wellington bomber made, in October 25th 1945.They flew around the tower and back again she said this was a fantastic experience.
